Cultural Osmosis Fan-Art is a series I’m doing in which I select a well-known work of art (book, movie, etc) that has made its way into my consciousness through pure ubiquity, and try to compress it into a single notecard gestalt. I annotate this image with a brief summary. This exercise was inspired by the Cultural Osmosis Pop Quiz that is sometimes found in the New York Times Magazine.
Cultural Osmosis Fanart #4 - Metroid
In some distant galaxy a lone, armored bounty hunter (bottom-left) searches for a valuable and disgusting creature named Metroid (upper-left), while fleeing her(!) various rival bounty hunters, including a big, self-aware purple dragon. In the background we can see that her travels have taken her to a rubble-filled technological laboratory host to other freaky specimens. She fires a contained blast of space-energy from her arm-cannon, but what good will it do?
